§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is Her Majesty's Government's policy towards a report to the EEC Commission that an EEC unemployment fund be created, financed by a direct tax on wages and salaries paid over as a direct contribution to an EEC fund.
§ Mr. HattersleyThis suggestion was put forward in a report on economic and monetary union, submitted to the Commission by a study group under Professor Marjolin. The report is a theoretical study and is in no sense an official proposal for action. Her Majesty's Government have not, therefore, taken a view on it at this stage.
