§ Mr. MacCormickasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for alternative uses for oil platform construction sites in Argyll.
§ Mr. William RossUnder the Offshore Petroleum Development (Scotland) Act 1975, I am required to consult with the appropriate local authority and others on the future use of any publicly-owned oil platform construction site which is no longer needed for this purpose. The nature of the reinstatement or alternative use will depend on the outcome of the consultations I have mentioned and on the situation prevailing at the time. The future use of platform sites not publicly owned is primarily a question for the planning authority.
