§ Mr. Ralph Howellasked the Lord President of the Council whether, if the Referendum Bill, as at present drafted, 8W becomes law, (a) a Southern Irish citizen residing in Great Britain and (b) a British citizen living in Southern Ireland, respectively, will be able to vote.
§ Mr. Edward ShortUnder the Bill a citizen of the Republic of Ireland who is on a current electoral register in the United Kingdom would be entitled to vote in the referendum. A British subject living in the Republic of Ireland would be entitled to vote in the referendum only if he had had a residence in the United Kingdom on 10th October 1974 and was otherwise qualified to be included in the electoral register and had been so included.
