§ Mr. William RossInformation is not available on the total number of induced births in Scotland, but of the births in those hospitals which provide central returns—some 80 per cent. of total hospital births—28,697 were induced in 1973. This was a 7.3 per cent. increase over the corresponding 1972 figure.
