HC Deb 11 April 1975 vol 889 c492W
Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what discussions he has had with local authority representatives in Berkshire about housing needs in the county.

Mr. Freeson

In recent months there have been six visits by Department officials to discuss general housing needs with specific district councils in Berkshire, including Newbury. In addition there have been frequent communication by telephone and meetings to discuss particular subjects as they arise.

Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what assistance is being provided by his Department to housing associations in Berkshire.

Mr. Freeson

Proposals for over 1,000 new dwellings to be built by housing associations in Berkshire are known to the Department, and these should attract very generous grants under the Housing Act 1974.
