HC Deb 07 April 1975 vol 889 cc340-1W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she is in a position to report the result of her consideration of the leaflet "Help with Travelling Expenses for Patients and Visitors", of which she informed the House on 7th May 1974.

Dr. Owen

References to help with hospital travelling expenses have now been included in many leaflets available at social security offices including "Help for Handicapped People" (HB1); those which explain entitlement to supplementary benefits (SB1 and SL8), and family income supplement (FIS1) and remission of various NHS charges (F11, PC11 and W11). Some of these are also available at post offices. As part of a comprehensive and continuing review of social security leaflets references to hospital fares are also now being included wherever appropriate. I also hope to revise the content and improve distribution arrangements for the leaflet "Help with Travelling Expenses to Hospitals for Patients and Visitors" when it is next reprinted.
