HC Deb 07 April 1975 vol 889 cc373-4W
Mr. David Price

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the present number of staff employed at the College of Air Training at Hamble, Hampshire; and how that number is divided between the main categories of staff.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The present number of staff employed at the College of Air Training at Hamble is just over 300, as follows:

Flying instruction 80
Aircraft maintenance 100
Technical and liberal studies and selection 48
Administration, maintenance and services 80

Mr. David Price

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the maximum number of students which the staff and physical facilities at the College of Air Training, Hamble, Hampshire, are capable of handling; what is the present number of students at the college; and what are the prospective numbers during the next two years.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The College of Air Training, Hamble, is capable of handling 290 students at any one time, 40 of whom would be based at the subsidiary school at Hurn. At present, 190 students are under training.

In view of current uncertainties in the aviation market it is not possible to forecast with precision the prospective intake over the next two years.
