HC Deb 29 November 1974 vol 882 c266W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the extent to which the Mark 8 torpedo remains in service in the Royal Navy's nuclear and conventional submarines; when this mark of torpedo was first introduced into service; and when it is intended that it shall be replaced by more modern torpedoes.

Mr. Judd

The present version of the Mark 8 torpedo entered service in 1963 and is widely fitted in the submarine fleet. It is planned to be replaced about the end of this decade.
