§ Mr. PrenticeMy Department expects shortly to issue advice to local education authorities on some immediate practical steps that might be taken, within statutory standards and the limits of public expenditure, to conserve energy used to heat and light maintained educational institutions.
My Department is collaborating actively with the Building Research Establishment on a number of research projects relevant to this topic and with other Departments on the formulation of further advice on energy conservation.
My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy will be making a statement about other energy conservation measures shortly.
