HC Deb 28 November 1974 vol 882 c235W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will seek to ascertain what progress is being made by the Commission on the Distribution of Income and Wealth; and if he will make a statement on its future work.

Mr. Booth

Three references have been made to the Royal Commission. A standing reference to analyse and report on the current distribution and past trends in the distribution of personal income and wealth was made on 29th August 1974. Two further references, on higher incomes and on incomes from companies, were made on 22nd October 1974. The commission will produce annual reports on the position in relation to the standing reference. It is expected that the commission will report on income from companies early next summer and on higher incomes next autumn. Further references will be made to the commission in due course.
