HC Deb 27 November 1974 vol 882 c166W
Mr. Mather

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied that all necessary measures have been taken to prevent flooding in the River Mole Valley between Cobham and the River Mole's junction with the Thames at Thames Ditton.

Mr. Strang

I am satisfied that all possible measures have been taken. The Thames Water Authority monitors the whole of the Thames catchment, including the Mole Valley, so that weirs, sluices, etc., can be operated to minimise the effect of flooding. For the longer term the authority plans to undertake a major flood alleviation scheme to improve the capacity of the lower reaches of the Mole.
