asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give figures of the total numbers employed in manufacturing industry in each of the last 10 years and the percentage both of the total population and the working population that each figure represents in each year.

(2) In 1966 there was a change in the industrial classifications to which many establishments were allocated. Estimates for 1966(a) and 1966(b) are based on the old and new classifications respectively.

(3) In 1969 there was a change in the Standard Industrial Classification. Estimates for 1969(a) and 1969(b) are based on the old and new classifications, respectively.
