HC Deb 26 November 1974 vol 882 c129W
Mr. Sedgemore

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) when he intends to collect the £800 million tax on the profits from stock appreciation which he has deferred in his Budget;

(2) whether he has any proposals to continue deferring all or part of the tax on profits from stock appreciation.

Dr. Gilbert

My right hon. Friend said in his Budget Statement that it was not the intention that the tax deferred this year should be automatically clawed back next year. Indeed, he gave as assurance in his Budget Speech that there would be some relief similar to that being given for the present year. I regret that I can say no more at present.
