HC Deb 26 November 1974 vol 882 cc106-7W
47. Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of her answer to the hon. Member for Leicester, West on 12th November, what steps she proposes to take to redress the inequalities between various regions in the allocation of National Health Service resources, with particular reference to the situation in Leicester.

Dr. Owen

I am considering the extent to which present methods of allocating resources to regional health authorities can be adjusted to make them more responsive to the needs of different parts of the country, particularly areas of health deprivation. With a view to this my Department is giving urgent study to ways of objectively measuring existing local variations in the distribution of resources.
