HC Deb 26 November 1974 vol 882 c107W
Mr. Walkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what services were supplied in the offices of the Department of Health and Social Security in Cinderford and Lydney five years ago which are not being currently supplied.

Mr. Alec Jones

So far as the public is concerned, service is provided over the full range of social security activities, although, from December, the service will be provided for only a limited time each week. I am satisfied, in view of the numbers calling at the offices, that this reduction in hours of opening is justified and ought to cause no hardship. The work transferred to Gloucester was concerned with the internal processing of claims and other administrative matters.
