HC Deb 26 November 1974 vol 882 c125W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what proportion of the loans approved in 1974 by the EEC Commission for development of the United Kingdom coal and steel industries has been allocated to projects in England, Scotland and Wales, respectively.

Mr. Eadie

For coal the proportion of loans so far approved for specific projects is about 11 per cent. to Wales and 89 per cent. to England. However, in addition there is a substantial loan for the purchase of powered roof supports which will be used in all three countries according to requirements.

For steel, the Department of Industry informs me that the proportion to date is 63 per cent. for England and 36 per cent. for Scotland.
