HL Deb 26 November 1974 vol 354 c1391WA
LORD STANLEY OF ALDERLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is their intention to continue the Intervention Board Beef Premium Scheme payments on certified fat cattle at the rates announced by the Minister of Agriculture in September regardless of the average market price.

LORD BESWICK

My right honourable friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has said that the real concern at the moment is the need for an assured return to producers. He has described the changes needed in the beef regime to bring this about, and I would refer the noble Lord to the Statement I made on Thursday, November 21.
