Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will print in the OFFICIAL REPORT the number of unemployed (a) males, and (b) females as a percentage of employees who were unemployed for each of the major administrative regions in Great Britain for each year since 1945.

The current series of unemployment statistics started in 1948. In the following table, the numbers of unemployed males and females, respectively, have been expressed as percentages of the total numbers of males and females unemployed in each region:
