HC Deb 25 November 1974 vol 882 cc65-6W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether any restriction was placed on the sale of Earl Haig poppies to prisoners and detainees at the Maze Prison; whether visitors were asked to remove their poppies; whether staff were allowed to wear poppies; and what restrictions were imposed last year.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The sale of Earl Haig popplies to prisoners and detainees was not allowed. Visitors wearing poppies were not asked to remove them. There was no restriction on the wearing of poppies by prison staff. The practice in this matter was the same as last year.
