§ Mr. Michael McGuireasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will give details of the powers which she has to deal with disputes such as the one at the Digmoor Health Centre, Skelmersdale, giving at the same time the procedure which is followed to deal with such disputes.
§ Dr. OwenFamily practitioner committees have been given statutory responsibility, in accordance with regulations and subject to any directions my right hon. Friend may give them, for the day-to-day administration of the general medical services on behalf of area health authorities. The procedure followed by a committee to secure the continuity of such services depends upon the circumstances of the individual case. My right hon. Friend has written to my hon. Friend about the disciplinary and other powers available to committees which can be invoked when this proves necessary. I am continuing to keep a close personal76W watch on the situation at the Digmoor Health Centre and will keep my hon. Friend informed.
