HC Deb 25 November 1974 vol 882 cc53-4W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if there has been any change in the policy adopted by Her Majesty's Government to the report of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation which dealt with Puerto Rico since it was discussed in the General Assembly in November and December 1973.

Mr. Ennals

We consider that General Assembly Resolution 748 (VIII) of 27th November 1953 still applies. This re-recognised that the Declaration regarding Non-Self-Governing Territories and the provisions established under Chapter XI of the United Nations Charter were no longer relevant to Puerto Rico.
