HC Deb 25 November 1974 vol 882 c13W
Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) whether he will ensure that the licence to build engines or frames for the HS146 will not be given to any overseas country pending the nationalisation of the aerospace industry;

(2) if he will take steps to ensure that the facilities and plant for manufacturing new aerospace projects, not so far manufactured under licence abroad, will remain in Great Britain pending the nationalisation of the aerospace industry.

Mr. Meacher

Under the contract between the Government and Hawker Siddeley Aviation on the HS146 the company needs the consent of the Government before disposing of jigs and tools, issuing licences, and so on, in connection with the project.

Generally as regards the safeguarding of assets to be nationalised, I would refer the hon. Member to the statement made by my right hon. Friend in the debate on the Address on 4th November 1974—[Vol. 880, c. 714–5.]
