§ Mr. Sydney Irvingasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to secure stricter control of the use of colours, flavouring substance, food additives and the upper limit for nutriment additives in infant foods.
§ Mr. StrangThere is no evidence that existing controls are inadequate. Nevertheless the specialist committees which advise us and the Secretary of State for Social Services on these matters are currently reviewing all aspects of the composition of infant foods including the use of food additives. When their recommendations are received the need for further legislative control will be considered.
