HC Deb 22 November 1974 vol 881 c540W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now review the workings of the British Nationality Act 1948 and the Ireland Act 1949 so as to remove from citizens of the Irish Republic the same civic rights as British subjects, and, specifically, the right to vote in United Kingdom general elections.

Dr. Summerskill

My right hon. Friend sees no reason to alter the voting rights of citizens of the Republic of Ireland resident here.
