HC Deb 21 November 1974 vol 881 c497W
Mr. Viggers

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what proposals Her Majesty's Government have to end the distinction, in respect of widows of Service men who were discharged before 1st September 1950, between widows of officers, who receive a pension, and widows of other ranks, who do not.

Mr. Judd

The problem has always been how to do something to benefit these widows without producing major repercussions on public service pensions as a whole and creating anomalies in other directions. I am re-examining this question but I cannot yet forecast the outcome.
