HC Deb 21 November 1974 vol 881 cc503-4W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy, pursuant to recent OPEC proposals agreed in Vienna in September 1974, what was the host Government take per barrel of the market price of Saudi Arabian Light; and how this figure is expected to alter under the Saudi Arabian proposals scheduled for consideration by OPEC in December.

Mr. Varley

As a result of the OPEC decisions in September, the average host Government take on Marker Crude—equivalent to Saudi Arabian Light—was increased to $9.69 per barrel. The Press release after the conference noted, however, that this increase would not be implemented by Saudi Arabia. The average price of Saudi Arabian Light was increased to about $10.25 as a result of a meeting of certain producers in Abu Dhabi on 9th and 10th November. This was the change which Saudi Arabia had been expected to propose to OPEC in December.
