asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many children he estimates were in nursery schools on 31st March 1973.

No estimates are made for 31st March. In maintained nursery schools in England at January 1973 there were 14,223 full-time and 24,590 part-time pupils. In addition, there were 23,443 full-time and 48,234 part-time pupils attending nursery classes in maintained primary schools.
