HC Deb 19 November 1974 vol 881 c402W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he is satisfied about the standard of thermal insulation in the construction of some of the houses in the Bloomfield Road South housing estate, Bangor, where the normal brick/cavity/brick wall has not been used; and why were some houses in this estate constructed in this manner.

Mr. Concannon

An infill timber panel method commonly used in other parts of the United Kingdom was used by the former Northern Ireland Housing Trust in the building of some houses on this estate. This type of construction is used for speed and because of the shortage of workers, particularly bricklayers and joiners. The degree of thermal insulation achieved meets the standard now set by the Northern Ireland Building Regulations.
