HC Deb 19 November 1974 vol 881 cc404-5W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many administrative jobs there were under the previous system of the National Health Service; and how many now exist under the new health boards in respect, in each case, of the functions held in common under each system;

(2) how many new jobs in administration have been created by the new health boards in preparation for and after their inception to the latest convenient date for which figures are available.

Mr. William Ross

There were 9,301 administrative staff employed under the previous system at 30th September 1973 including clerical, typing and machine operator grades, but excluding employees of local authorities engaged on health functions. Corresponding information for the new health authorities is not available as they are still preparing their management plans detailing the number and grading of staff required.
