HC Deb 18 November 1974 vol 881 c293W
32. Mr. Percival

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will reconsider the possibility of including Southport in the Merseyside development area, since manufacturing firms in Southport are finding it increasingly difficult to compete successfully with firms located in the development area and who therefore qualify for subsidised labour and development grants.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

I am not satisfied that any change in the boundaries of the Merseyside Special Development Area is justified at present.
