§ Mr. Silvesterasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many applications for price increases were rejected or modified on the grounds that they involved an increase in labour costs above that permitted by the Pay Code under paragraph 30 of the original Prices Code.
§ Mr. MaclennanPrice Commission records do not distinguish the grounds for modification or rejection in such detail as to enable this information to be given, but I am advised that very few applications involving paragraphs 29 and 30 of the Price Code were made during the period when those paragraphs were in force.
§ Mr. Silvesterasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether any limitations, other than the productivity deduction, are currently applied to the level of increases in labour costs which are allowable for price increases under the Price Code.
§ Mr. MaclennanOther than the productivity deduction, the limitations applied under the Price Code to the level of labour cost increases which is allowable are the same as those for other allowable costs; the cost increase must have been incurred after 30th April 1973 and it must not have been already reflected in prices.
