§ 41. Mr. John H. Osbornasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will clarify the position regarding dutiable imports from Ireland in view of the correspondence sent to him by the hon. Member for Sheffield, Hallam.
§ Dr. GilbertA reply to the hon. Member's letter was sent from my office on 4th October. The duty free import allowances for spirits have been expressed in metric terms for some years. The Customs Notice which explains the allowances gives the equivalent in imperial measure, and I do not think there is need for further clarification.
