HC Deb 18 November 1974 vol 881 c333W
Mr. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what regular Scottish Office staff are assigned, full-time, to the Under-Secretary with responsibility for devolution, giving their grades and responsibilities.

Mr. William Ross

A number of senior officers in all the Scottish Departments are concerned with different aspects of devolution; they operate under the general direction of the Permanent Under-Secretary of State who reports to Scottish Ministers as appropriate. The work is co-ordinated by a special administrative division under an Assistant Secretary with a full-time staff which is at present six; further staff will be appointed shortly. The division maintains close liaison with the Constitutional Unit in the Cabinet Office.
