HC Deb 15 November 1974 vol 881 c264W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what channels now exist through which Her Majesty's Government can be more fully informed about conditions in Rhodesia, for which they assert responsibility, to assist a constitutional settlement; and whether he will consider the reopening of missions in Salisbury and London.

Miss Joan Lestor

Information about conditions in Rhodesia reaches Her Majesty's Government by a number of means including Press reporting of missions would, however, be inconsistent with a mandatory obligation imposed by a United Nations Security Council resolution to sever all diplomatic and other relations with the illegal regime in Southern Rhodesia which we ourselves promoted.
