§ Mr. Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the 232W total sum advanced to public and private tenants by way of rent rebates and allowances and supplementary benefit for housing purposes for the latest available period of 12 months; and what was the number of households which benefited.
§ Mr. KaufmanRent rebates and allowances, in respect of just under 2 million households, totalled about £160 million in 1973–74. Since supplementary benefit is paid as the difference between overall requirements and overall resources, the element for housing costs is not separately identifiable.
