§ Mr. Kenneth Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will bring forward legislation to resolve the anomalies in the present law on Sunday markets and to increase the powers of local authorities to regulate or prohibit such markets.
§ Dr. SummerskillThe present law contains no provisions which deal with Sunday markets as such. There are many differing views about the provision which should be made for Sunday trading in general, and my right hon. Friend has no plans for legislation in this field in the immediate future.
