HC Deb 13 November 1974 vol 881 cc125-6W
41. Mr. Graham Page

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement concerning the control of business rents both in the transitional period to 31st March 1976 and thereafter.

Mr. Crosland

As already announced, the present standstill on rents existing on 5th November 1972 will be succeeded, from 1st June next, by a transitional period lasting until March 1976 in which rents will be allowed to rise in successive groups to the level of the open market on 5th November 1972. A new standstill on existing rents outside the earlier control was introduced on 21st June, and will continue through the transitional period.

As for the position at the end of the transitional period, I have nothing to add to the reply given to the hon. Member for Cardiff, North (Mr. Grist) on 6th November.—[Vol. 880, c. 147–8.]
