§ Mr. Robert Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether it is his proposal to remove the disqualification on the former Clay Cross councillors before full settlement of the surcharge.
§ Mr. CroslandThe disqualifications incurred as a direct result of the Housing Finance Act will be ended in accordance with the commitment referred to by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister in his statement to the House of 4th April this year. The Government understand, as I said in my statement of 6th November, that a fund is being set up for the purpose of meeting the financial liabilities of the councillors concerned.
