asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the doctor-patient ratio at the latest available date in the Macclesfield constituency; and how the ratio compares with the Merseyside Regional Health Authority and nationally.

Separate figures are not available for the Macclesfield constituency. The number of patients per general practitioner in the Macclesfield health district is 2,322 as at 1st July 1974. The corresponding figure for Congleton and Macclesfield, one of the three practice areas within the health district, is 2,498.

The figures for Merseyside Regional Health Authority and England are 2,455 and 2,398 respectively as at 1st October 1973, the latest available date.
