§ Mr. Kershawasked the Minister of Overseas Development what proposals she has made concerning economic aid to St. Helena; and whether she will make a statement.
§ Mrs. HartSt. Helena receives an annual grant-in-aid from Her Majesty's Government. In the current financial year this amounts to £576,274.
In June this year I approved the implementation of the St. Helena Development Plan. Over the five-year period of the plan Her Majesty's Government will allocate £1.48 million for projects covering the social services, the economic infrastructure, and development of natural resources. In the current financial year the development allocation is £175,000.
