HC Deb 11 November 1974 vol 881 c48W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consider proceeding with the whole stretch of the M16 from the Dartford Tunnel to beyond Ongar as one stage subject to any public inquiry which may be necessary on that part beyond Brentwood.

Mr. Carmichael

The statutory processes for the A13-A12 section of the M16 are much more advanced than those for the adjoining A10-A12 sections and my right hon. Friend hopes to announce a decision on the former in the near future.

Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he can now specify a firm date for the commencement of that part of the M16 which will run from the second Dartford Tunnel to Brentwood.

Mr. Carmichael

It is aimed to start work in financial year 1976–77 subject to the satisfactory completion of the statutory procedures and the availability of funds at the time.
