HC Deb 11 November 1974 vol 881 c21W
Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will now arrange for the authorities in the British sovereign bases in Cyprus to supply direct to the relevant bodies in the United Kingdom a full list of the names of those refugees at present sheltering therein.

Mr. John

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross are already allowed full access to the refugee camps in the sovereign base areas for the purpose of tracing missing persons. In addition, the refugees have had the opportunity for some time to communicate with their relatives in this country either through normal postal channels or by means of letter forms which are collected by the ICRC and forwarded through the British Red Cross. These arrangements are now well established and I do not, therefore, consider it necessary for the SBA authorities to compile a list.
