HC Deb 11 November 1974 vol 881 c5W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Trade when British Airways now expect Concorde to enter into shadow service.

Mr. Clinton Davis

British Airways are planning to begin regular scheduled Concorde services in the spring of 1976, or sooner if possible. Meanwhile the manufacturers of Concorde, in co-operation with British Airways, will be arranging a series of endurance flights which will form part of the process leading to the awarding of the aircraft's certificate of airworthiness. These endurance, or "shadow", flights are expected to begin about the middle of next year.

Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) what consultations

1969 1970 1971 1972 1973
Net Assets (Billion Lire) 512.3 587.7 750.2 926.4 1096.5
Net Profit (Billion Lire) 1.4 1.4 1.6 3.4 5.5

These figures give returns on assets of 0.27 per cent., 0.24 per cent., 0.21 per cent., 0.36 per cent. and 0.45 per cent. respectively.

There is a discrepancy between these figures and those which were provided in response to a similar question from the hon. Member for Bedford (Mr. Skeet) on 24th May 1974. The figures given on that occasion have been found to be incorrect and I apologise to the hon. Member for that error, which has only now come to light.
