HC Deb 07 November 1974 vol 880 c190W
33. Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he has studied the latest proposals by the European Commission for the restriction and reduction of the glasshouse industry; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Strang

I understand that various courses of action relating to the glasshouse sector are being considered within the Commission, but no proposals have yet been put to member States.

35. Mr. David Price

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are his plans for helping the glasshouse industry after the end of 1974 when the temporary subsidy upon the industry's fuel oil is due to end; and how his plans compare with those of the other Governments within the EEC.

Mr. Strang

I have at present no plans for additional help for the glasshouse industry beyond that available from the horticultural capital grant schemes which we believe to be no less generous than those of other EEC member States. The industry will continue to benefit from repayment of excise duty on fuel oil.
