HC Deb 07 November 1974 vol 880 cc220-1W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement regarding the arrangements made to represent specifically Welsh interests within the EEC.

Mr. John Morris

I myself visited the Commission in July for wide-ranging discussions on matters of specific interest to Wales. Officials in my Department are also in regular and close contact with Brussels.

Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has made to the Commissioner responsible for regional policy in the EEC.

Mr. John Morris

In discussion with Mr. Thomson I have emphasised the problems we face in Wales and the importance we attach to effective regional policies.

Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much regional aid Wales will receive from the EEC during the current financial year and next year, respectively.

Mr. John Morris

This will depend on decisions which have yet to be taken by the Council of Ministers on the proposed regional development fund.
