§ Mr. Kinnockasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether assurances were obtained from Chile concerning respect for human rights and release of political prisoners in return for the extension of Chilean debt repayments in the agreement concluded on 30th October by Her Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. DellNo such assurances were obtained in connection with the rescheduling agreement. Her Majesty's Government have, however, made their concern for human rights in Chile very well known. They have made frequent representations to the Chilean Government about political prisoners and will continue to do so whenever appropriate.
