§ Mr. Farrasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware of the threat of redundancies facing the makers of Blue Stilton cheese as a result of the continually rising level of subsidy for all other national cheeses; and if he will take immediate steps to remedy this situation.
§ Mr. BishopRepresentations have been made by the makers of Blue Stilton cheese about the effects of the proposed increase in the level of the cheese subsidy. My right hon. Friend is considering these with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection who is responsible for the level of subsidy and the coverage of the scheme.
