§ Mr. Merlyn ReesSince my announcement on 2nd September of proposals for the extension of policing in Northern Ireland there have been 2,836 applications to join the Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve. Of these 432 have been sworn, 2,038 applications are being processed and 366 have been either withdrawn or rejected.
