HC Deb 06 November 1974 vol 880 cc153-4W
Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will look into the problems caused by the fluctuations in the price of lamb on the British market, as a result of the opening and closing at random by the French Government of the entry of British lamb on to the French market.

Mr. William Ross

The fat sheep guarantee ensures that producers receive on average at least the weekly standard price irrespective of fluctuations below that figure in the market price. Licences to import lamb into France are available from the French authorities except when the French market price is below a predetermined threshold price.
