HC Deb 06 November 1974 vol 880 c181W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what assurances she has given to the paramedicals, including physiotherapists, with regard to to the wage review by the Halsbury Committee to be published in December; and if she will take steps to ensure a regular review of pay in the future.

Mrs. Castle

I have given a firm commitment that pay increases arising out of the inquiry, of which Lord Halsbury has said it would be unwise to assume completion before the end of the year, will be back-dated to 23rd May and, further, that the Government will deal with the report as soon as it is received.

For the future, as between negotiation in the Whitley Council and on-going in-dependent reviews, I have said that the ideas must come from those involved in the service and their representative bodies and I have expressed willingness to open discussions.
